HISTORY

BattleGroup International are Scotland’s leading, International fight event promoters.

The organisation has been in existence since 2001 and we have promoted many "firsts",

including  -

• Scotland's first, ever, World title, Thai Boxing event;
• Scotland's first, ever K-1 matches;
• Scotland's first, ever, major MMA fight event;
• Scotland's first, ever, MMA Cage event;
• Scotland's first, ever, All female fight event; 
• and various other firsts in quality kombat promotions for Scotland.

B.G.I. started in small, local halls and venues, and have steadily moved up to bigger, more prestigious venues as our audience has grown and developed.   We now promote our major events in some of the very biggest arenas in Scotland.

A VERY important fact about our events is that from Day 1, we have not allowed the consumption of alcohol within the fighting arena at any of our events !  And before the general smoking ban came in for public venues in Scotland, our events were also NO smoking !

This has resulted in a great response from the "powers that be", law enforcement, potential sponsors and most importantly, the spectator audience !  We attract and promote FAMILY entertainment !  And in this modern "p.c." World, that is a vitally important factor.

 

PEOPLE –

     DUNCAN AIRLIE JAMES

BattleGroup International was founded by Duncan Airlie James, Scotland's most successful ever ring fighter !

As a competitive fighter, Duncan has won six versions of World Thai Boxing and Kick Boxing titles. He was the First, ever Scottish WORLD champion in Kick Boxing and in Thai Boxing, and he was the first and STILL the ONLY Scotsman ever to fight in the prestigious K-1 events in Japan !  He has competed all over the world during an illustrious and very successful career. His tartan shorts and fighting kilt became a famous trademark and his badge of honour !

Now, at the end of his competitive fight career, Duncan is pursuing his next challenge of developing B.G.I. into a World leader of Kombat promotions. He is also forging a new career as a screen actor and an excellent motivational speaker.

     KEVIN MAGUIRE

Kevin Maguire is the Operations and Marketing Manager of B.G.I. A great martial artist in his own right, Kevin has fought competitively in Kick Boxing and MMA, and has accompanied Duncan all over the World on his competitive fight travels. He is a Marketing graduate and a businessman.
